/
Whether you're looking for a cool new theme for a house party or just trying to impress your friends, I'm going to teach you a few tricks that will be sure to brighten up your next get together. The first thing to know is that there are many ways to make glow in the dark drinks. If you use any of the key ingredients below you are sure to have some jaw dropping effects. The upside to knowing this is that there is a lot of room for creativity, so be sure to try something new and see what you get! Here is a list of the common ingredients used followed by my favourite cocktails.
Key ingredients
- Mountain Dew
- Any energy drink or sports drink with B vitamins (B vitamins make drinks glow yellow!)
- Tonic water
- Club soda
- Milk
- Most food coloring
- Absinthe
- What is key here is that you are looking for any drink that contain either the chemical guanine or chlorophyll
Cocktail List
Aurora Jungle Juice
This is my favorite glowing cocktail because I feel it brought forth the most interesting results. This was a recipe I took from The Campus Companion. This drink took my interest in particular because in the light it gives off a light pinkish hue, but when the black light is flipped on the results are a bright and vibrant blue. These two colors mimic the colors of the beautiful Aurora Borealis so you can educate your party goers while you sip! The Ingredients are as follows (keep in mind this is for a large party)
- 9 liters of tonic water
- 2 liters of gin or vodka
- 3-4 bottles of Roses Mojito Passion
Green Scorpion
This is a great drink for a Halloween party. The highlighter green makes the drink look like it was taken straight from the crypt creeper's hands. The energy drink additive will also help ensure that you will stay up for the entire night's endeavours. Here is what you will need to make the spooky drink:
- Red Bull (vitamin B)
- Blue food colouring (make the yellow from the vitamin B turn green)
- Your choice of Rum, Whisky, Vodka, or Jägermeister

Glowing Ice
This is by far the easiest way to make a unique mixed drink. All you need for the most basic glowing ice is tonic water. Simply pour some tonic water into your tray and freeze it. Now all your drinks will have glowing icebergs floating amidst the cocktail. If you feel like getting a little more creative you can add some Kool-Aid to the mix. Feel free to check out the link posted here for a tutorial on that!
Now you have a few cocktails to get you started for your glow in the dark party. Get creative, see what other concoctions you can come up with and comment them below so I can try them for myself!
